Rules for resources in verified answers

We want to maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency across all verified answers.

Main form citations/medium neutral citation. When referencing cases, use the main form of citation applicable to your jurisdiction. For example, in Australia, use medium neutral citations - (e.g., [2001] HCA 63).

Replace tertiary sources. Remove blog articles, commentary and similar sources and replace with primary sources (cases, legislation, rules, regulations) and appropriate supporting secondary sources such as rules, regulations, forms and guidelines.

Include only relevant resources. Do not list a resource unless it is referred to in the body of the answer. Remove any irrelevant resources that were included in the AI-answer but are not relevant to your verified answer.

Include resources list. Using bullet points, list all resources used in your answer under a "Resources" heading at the end of your answer (refer to examples page). Do not include links in the body of the answer. The AI Check will prevent you from submitting your verified answer if the body includes any links. When referencing legislation or case law, you do not need to list multiple sections or parts separately. Instead, link to the full judgment or the table of contents for the legislation.

Use free databases only. Resources listed should be hyperlinked. For cases, link only to publicly accessible databases (i.e., AustLii, BAILII, or CanLII). For statutes (Acts, regulations, rules, etc.), link to the official government publication.  Do not hyperlink to paid services such as LexisNexis, Jade, or Westlaw. Do not link directly to a PDF; instead, link to the page where the PDF is hosted.
